At its most vulnerable and weight-bearing position, the human knee rests at a 22-degree bend. The SPORTCANE is engineered to match this precise angle, absorbing weight at the exact point where the knee is most at risk. This design reduces the load on both the knee and hip joints, providing crucial protection and support during movement.

During the loading response phase of the gait cycle, the body accepts weight at heel contact, and the knee typically flexes to a 22-degree angle to absorb the impact. However, injuries or surgeries—like ACL tears or total knee replacement—can significantly limit this flexion, disrupting the natural walking gait.
The 22° SPORTCANE supports the body by absorbing high loading forces at impact, helping restore the knee’s natural flexion angle. Positioned slightly in front of your step, the SPORTCANE engages upper body muscles (shoulders and chest) to assist in mobility. This promotes proper gait alignment, decreases pain, shortens recovery time, and supports a quicker return to an active lifestyle.

SPORTCANE was created by Dr. Charles R. Kaelin, a renowned orthopedic surgeon with over 40 years of experience specializing in sports medicine. After recognizing the social stigma associated with canes during his own surgery recovery experience, Dr. Kaelin worked with a team of leading engineers and other orthopedic surgeons to design a cane that completely reimagines what a walking aid can do, making it the perfect cane for anyone in any situation.

SPORTCANE has reimagined personal mobility for everyone- benefiting rehabilitation and allowing for an earlier return to any everyday lifestyle with a quicker, controllable gait. The stronger an individual is, the greater the force absorption that can be transferred through the cane.
